The technical department behind Norway Excursions AS

Norway Excursions AS is a tour operator that sells shore excursions to cruise passengers across the Norwegian fjords. Their tours are offered in several languages and offered on their own website. Since 2025, TheTechDodo has run the technical side of that direct booking channel.

What the engagement covers

One operator, one technical partner

Not a project with an end date, but a partnership instead. This is the standing technical function of a booking business, run from the outside, by one partner who holds the whole picture instead of a rotating team.

01

Infrastructure and security

Hosting, caching, plugin and theme risk, and access control, to keep the booking path up and running.

02

Measurement and attribution

Analytics, tag management, conversion tracking and booking-system data, verified end to end, so no decision gets made on a number nobody has checked.

03

Paid search

Campaign structure, budget allocation across languages and audiences, and landing page quality, reconciled against what actually got booked rather than what the platform reports about itself.

04

Search and structured data

Technical SEO and server-side structured data across a multilingual catalogue, with metadata written for the searches that produce bookings rather than the ones that only produce traffic.

05

First-party review system

A custom review system wired into the booking flow, so proof of good tours accumulates on the operator's own site instead of on a platform that charges commission for the same guests.

06

Booking flow and page performance

Speed, mobile behaviour and tour page structure, because the last thirty seconds before a booking is where intent is most easily lost and hardest to win back.

07

Distribution and visibility

Google Things to Do via Experience Bank, plus the newer surfaces where trip research now starts, including AI assistants, so the operator is present where the next decade of bookings gets decided.

08

Monthly reporting

A written account every month of what each channel cost and what it returned, in language an owner can act on without hiring an analyst to interpret it.

How the work runs

One change at a time, each one attributable

Most technical work arrives as a batch. When the numbers move, nobody can say which part moved them. This engagement runs the opposite way.

The engagement started with an inventory of every system and access point, followed by a read-only analysis across infrastructure, tracking, advertising, search, distribution and reviews. Measurement was verified before anything was optimised.

From there, the work is prioritised by impact against effort. Each change is executed deliberately—dated and attributable—so that it remains possible to determine which action produced which effect. Every month closes with a written report and the next month's priorities.

TheTechDodo runs this as a standing monthly function rather than a fixed-length project. The packaged version of that arrangement is Direct Booking Control.

A note on numbers

TheTechDodo does not share performance figures on this page

Norway Excursions AS shares its commercial data with TheTechDodo, not with the public. Traffic, revenue, ad spend and booking volumes belong to the operator. Publishing a client's trading position to win the next client is a poor trade for the client who is already paying.

What is published here is the scope of the work, which is the part an operator evaluating a technical partner can actually judge.

It is also worth knowing for its own sake. Running this work means holding a client's analytics, ad accounts, booking system and revenue reporting. How a partner treats the last client's numbers is a fair guide to how they will treat yours. If you want to know whether work like this moves numbers, that is a conversation to have about your own.

Next step

Want a technical department for your booking channel?

This tends to fit operators who recognise at least a couple of these: the website already carries real booking volume, nobody owns the technical side end to end, the platforms report numbers that never quite reconcile, and the commission bill has stopped feeling like a cost of doing business.

Most start with a diagnostic before committing to anything ongoing, because it is cheaper to find out what is broken than to guess.
